Wood Jointer Plane

Wood Jointer Plane

The Bailey plane called jointer hand plane is made of two lengths, 22 inches and 24 inches, its rigidity and absolute accuracy rendering it unnecessary to make it as long as the common wood jointer. Jointer planes are mainly used in the "shooting" of edges of long planks for plain glue jointing. It will be very rarely used by the amateur joiner, unless he is somewhat experienced, and is engaged on large work requiring broad planks. For short joints of this nature the fore plane, if properly handled, will be found sufficient.
